COMPUTERIZED AXIAL TOMOGRAPHY (CAT) SCAN a procedure in which a computer generates detailed pictures of structures inside the body. It can identify normal and abnormal structures.
CENTRAL PRECOCIOUS PUBERTY (CPP) a condition that causes children to enter puberty too soon, resulting in accelerated bone growth, and the development of secondary sex characteristics.
GnRH stands for “gonadotropin-releasing hormone.”
GnRH AGONIST a manmade version of the hormone GnRH (gonadotropin-releasing hormone) which is normally found in the body.
HORMONE a chemical released by cells or tissue that has a specific regulatory effect on the activity of an organ or organs.
MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) uses a magnetic field to take pictures of the inside of the body.
ULTRASOUND a diagnostic procedure that uses sound waves to record pictures of internal organs.
